Permits & public paths
When hiring a skip, especially for your home, it may need to be placed on a public path, depending on where you live, an application for a skip permit maybe necessary. Abel skip hire can take care of arranging such permits for you. We can offer complete skip hire permit advice when needed, just call our dedicated support team for more information.
Skips on public roads
There are some considerations to take into account if your hired skip is kept on a public road.
- The longest side of the skip must run parallel to the edge of the road
- The skip must be kept as close to the road as possible
- There cannot be a road junction within 15 metres of where the skip will be
- The skip cannot obstruct your neighbours access roads or driveways
UK regulations
There are certain materials that you cannot put into a skip, things like Asbestos, Paint, Tyres, Gas Bottles, Fridges, Freezers, TV’s, Fluorescent Tubes, Light Bulbs and Vehicle Batteries are considered hazardous and need to be disposed of in specific ways.
